A Time to Cast Away Stones
You could say that the small block of gray granite on the floor in front of Don Borkowski's desk is an abstract of the very big problem with Bowdoin College's 150-year-old chapel. Fixing the problem, Bowdoin officials figure, will take two more years and at least $6-million -- roughly 130 times the original cost of the building, which was designed by the renowned architect Richard Upjohn.
