A Surge of Students
Enrollments soar at colleges of all types. For some of them, that's a mixed blessing.More students than ever have descended on American campuses this fall, with many public and private colleges reporting record enrollments. While the trend is a boon for some small private colleges, the crush of new students has several state universities bursting at the seams, further straining budgets already stretched by the economic downturn.
