Dan P. McAdams's explanation of the Republicans' appeal to voters through the redemption narrative offers a fascinating insight into President Bush's re-election, but I believe there is an additional element at play: the reason why the narrative hit home so strongly at this moment in history ("Redemption and American Politics," The Chronicle Review, December 3).
