A Memorial for a Troubled Professor
To the Editor:
I read with great interest and sorrow the story of Mine Ener ("An Unquiet Memorial," The Chronicle, March 18). Taking on the challenges and responsibilities of motherhood is difficult under the best of circumstances, and Ms. Ener's special-needs child did not provide her with the best of circumstances. Even had she known about her daughter's condition in advance of the birth, it is unlikely that she could have been sufficiently prepared for the trials that condition
