A Medical Model for Business Schools
To the Editor:
John Quelch's "A New Agenda for Business Schools" (The Chronicle Review, December 2) provides a partial explanation of the woes of current M.B.A. programs. But the problem goes beyond "'hard,' analytical number-crunching techniques" versus "'soft' skills such as leadership, team problem solving, and general management," and "empirical" versus "clinical." The latter distinction should really be theoretical versus empirical research.
