A Kuwaiti Student Forces Herself to Continue Her Studies in the U.S.
Mashe'l al-Dabbous arrived in the United States from Kuwait in August 2001 to pursue a Ph.D. in cell biology at the State University of New York at Buffalo. Ms. al-Dabbous came to Buffalo on a scholarship from Kuwait University, with her husband and four children. She says that she has experienced bigotry in the United States since September 11, and she nearly left Buffalo as a result.
