A Journal Lets On-Line Readers Review an Unpublished Paper
Peer review usually happens in secret, with a few experts passing judgment on a paper at the request of a journal's editor.
But now a major medical journal is testing a new kind of review using the World-Wide Web: A paper by an outspoken advocate of on-line scholarship has been publicly posted on the journal's Web site, and anyone can comment on whether it should be published.
