A Harvard Sociologist Heads for Great White North; Law-School Association Gets New Director; Illinois Names Head of American Indian Program
HEADED NORTH: One of America's notable sociologists of academic life is about to take part in a faculty trend that might be worthy of analysis in its own right: He's moving to the University of British Columbia.
Like a growing number of professors at elite American institutions, Neil Gross, 36, an assistant professor of sociology at Harvard University, has answered Canada's call. This fall he will join the sociology department at British Columbia as a tenured professor.
