A Grand Plan for Berkeley, Gone Awry

Walk around the University of California's crowded campus here -- from shady glen to busy plaza, from rolling lawn to winding asphalt footpath -- and it's easy to imagine you're wandering across a giant jigsaw puzzle of unrelated spaces.
