A Grading Curve Flunks Out
For many years, students in introductory economics courses at the University of Pennsylvania have engaged in cutthroat competition, refusing to share notes or to help confused classmates. But those days may be over.
Last month, the economics department announced that it was abolishing the dreaded grading curve that many students blamed for creating the hostile atmosphere.
