A Gift That Keeps On Giving
Whenever anyone plays the wistful holiday tune "I'll Be Home for Christmas," a few pennies find their way home to St. Lawrence University.
That's because J. Kimball (Kim) Gannon, the song's lyricist, left a third of the royalties from all his compositions to St. Lawrence, his alma mater. (In fact, not only was St. Lawrence Mr. Gannon's alma mater, but Mr. Gannon's "Alma Mater" is St. Lawrence's. That is, he wrote the song.)
