A Database of Earmarks

Your survey of federal earmarks received by colleges and universities can serve as a valuable guide to federally funded research, yet there are some aspects of this resource that can be confusing, even misleading ("Colleges' Earmarks Grow, Amid Criticism," The Chronicle, March 28).
