A Cure for Academic Classism
Last fall I had dinner with a friend who is tenured at a major research institution, and some of her graduate students who were just entering the job market. When I mentioned to the students that I teach at a small public university, they were somewhat interested. However, when I told them that I teach four courses a semester, one of them looked alarmed. "How do you do it?" she asked.
