A Course Explores the Science Behind Art Conservation
"Investigating Art With Physics," Emory University
Under infrared light, a student's painting of a sunrise with bright blues and oranges gives way to a sketch of trees in black charcoal. Another student's copy of a Paul Klee painting unexpectedly reveals the message, "Erin is awesome." The students use physics to find hidden details in layers of their own art and original pieces by other artists.
