A Community-College Student Learns to Make Repairs

Nine months after Hurricane Katrina deposited two pine trees across Sandra Ramsay's trailer home in Long Beach, Miss., it still sat in disrepair.

"Not many people do a lot of trailer construction," says Ms. Ramsay, who is 55 and self-employed as a hair stylist and massage therapist, businesses she had been running out of her home before the hurricane.
