A Closer Look at Narratology

To the Editor:

Because I have recently been doing research on narratives from an evolutionary-psychology perspective, I looked forward to reading Carlin Romano's "Is the Rise of 'Narratology' the Same Old Story?" (The Review, June 28). After all, there are some exciting things going on in the field. ...

However, the article was very boring. About all I got out of it was that there have been lots of books written in the field, and the author does not think much of most of them.
