A Civilian Education for Military Officers
To the Editor:
Daniel Byman rightly notes the benefits of a new GI Bill for "civilians, future administrations, and society as a whole" ("Veterans and Colleges Have a Lot to Offer Each Other," The Chronicle Review, December 14).
As a World War II veteran who enjoyed the benefits of the GI Bill, I can recall the massive influx of veterans that transformed campus life. Colleges graduated a whole generation of leaders for all levels of society who brought a new social and global
