A Champion of Gender Equity Reflects on 34 Years of Change
Judith M. Sweet, senior vice president for championships and education services at the National Collegiate Athletic Association, has a long view of women in college sports. In 1975 she became one of the first women to oversee a combined men's and women's athletics department, at the University of California at San Diego. She later became the first female president of the NCAA, a position she held for two years. Next month she will retire to San Diego, where she plans to consult on athletics
