A 'Bizarre' Excerpt for Melange

I have tried hard to come up with a good reason why someone at The Chronicle would have selected the particular passage you chose to excerpt from my new book, Invisible Privilege: A Memoir About Race, Class, and Gender (University Press of Kansas, 2000), but cannot ("Choosing a College Based on Men," Melange, March 17). What a bizarre and unrepresentative selection. ...
