A Bioengineered Mouse May Provide Clues to Understanding Down Syndrome
A mouse engineered to have extra genes may explain why people with Down syndrome develop abnormally shaped faces and mental retardation.
Researchers announced in February at the annual meeting here of the American Association for the Advancement of Science that the faces and brains of mice engineered to have genetic abnormalities show characteristics that are strikingly similar to those of people with Down syndrome.
