A Baccalaureate in Three Years

On the face of it, a three-year baccalaureate sounds like an excellent idea ("Today, Even B Students Are Getting Squeezed Out," The Chronicle Review, July 2). One problem that may be insurmountable is the difference in cultures between high school and college. High-school standards are typically fairly low, guaranteeing that the vast majority of students will graduate. The same cannot be said about standards at many colleges and universities. ...
