7 Students From U. of South Carolina and Clemson U. Die in Beach-House Fire
A fire gutted a beach house in Ocean Isle Beach, N.C., early Sunday, killing six students from the University of South Carolina at Columbia. Another person, reportedly a student at Clemson University, also died in the blaze.
"I am profoundly saddened by the news," the president of the Columbia campus, Andrew A. Sorensen, said at a news conference Sunday evening. "I pray that all of you will remember the victims in your thoughts and prayers."
