$7-Million for Students at 2-Year Colleges
Three foundations announced last week a $7-million effort to help needy students at community colleges gain admission to selective universities around the country.
The program follows recent attempts by several elite universities to attract more low-income students by offering attractive financial-aid packages. Many such students attend community colleges.
The foundations -- the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, the Lumina Foundation for Education, and the Nellie Mae Education
