5 Florida Lobbyists Serve on Public University Boards, Despite Law
Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida signed a law last summer barring legislative lobbyists from serving on public-university governing boards, but several of them continue to act as trustees.
A spokesman for the governor says Mr. Bush, a Republican, has no plans to ask five lobbyists who remain trustees to step down. Governor Bush believes the law applies only to future appointees, not to current board members, said the spokesman, Russell Schweiss.
