4 Ex-Athletes at Northwestern U. Indicted in Betting Investigation

Four former football players at Northwestern University were indicted this month on charges of lying to federal grand juries investigating sports betting at the institution.

The charges were the second set of gambling allegations involving Northwestern athletes in three years; two of its former basketball players were sentenced to prison last month for their roles in a 1995 point-shaving scheme.
