20 GOP Senators Urge NIH Not to Finance Stem-Cell Research
Twenty Republican senators have asked the National Institutes of Health to withdraw proposed rules that would allow scientists to use stem cells in biomedical research. The senators, including the presidential candidate John McCain, say the plan conflicts with a Congressional ban on the federal financing of research that involves the destruction of human embryos.
