2 Scientists Are Forced Off NASA Panel in Disagreement Over Research Dollars

Two scientists, including the provost of Rice University, have been forced to resign from the advisory council to the National Aeronautics and Space Administration after the pair urged that the agency, which is focusing money on human space exploration, adequately finance a broad program of scientific research.

The departures recall previous instances in which the Bush administration was criticized for appearing to manipulate for political reasons appointments of university scientists
