2 High-Speed Network Groups Discuss Merger

Internet2 and National LambdaRail, two nonprofit organizations that provide colleges with high-speed computer networking, are considering joining forces.

The merger, if approved, would eliminate duplication between the two groups and would give greater focus to academic-networking projects, proponents said. But leaders of both organizations warned that merger talks could founder over financial and bureaucratic issues.
