2 Community-College Associations to Get New Leaders; Stanford Money Manager Heads for the Hewlett Foundation
David R. Pierce, president and chief executive officer of the American Association of Community Colleges for the past eight years, last week announced that he would retire in August.
The association will begin a national search to replace the president, who is 64. His contract does not expire until December 2000, but he said he would leave in August to give his successor time to get acclimated before the 2000 elections.
Mr. Pierce said that he had been contemplating retirement
