2 Colleges in New Orleans Near New Round of Layoffs and Program Cuts
The University of New Orleans last week moved one step closer to declaring financial exigency, which would allow it to make significant cuts in its faculty, while Loyola University New Orleans revealed a budget-cutting plan that would eliminate 17 faculty jobs and 16 academic programs and majors.
Meanwhile, throughout the hurricane-ravaged region, professors whose jobs are on the chopping block are stepping up their efforts to organize and fight back.
