2 Catholic Colleges in Illinois Announce Plans to Merge
Benedictine University and Springfield College -- two Roman Catholic institutions in Illinois -- announced this month that they would merge once they received approval from their accrediting bodies and various state and federal education agencies.
The long-term plan is for Springfield College, a two-year institution, to maintain its name and identity, but to offer bachelor's and master's degrees now available at Benedictine, a four-year institution nearly 200 miles away, in
