$175-Million Gift Goes to Film School
George Lucas, creator of the Star Wars movies, will give $175-million to the University of Southern California to build new facilities at the film school and establish an endowment to support it. The whopping donation, which will come from Mr. Lucas's private foundation, is the university's largest single gift ever. The largest previous one was $120-million from the late Walter Annenberg, the publisher and ambassador.
