15,000 Medical Students Learn Where They Will Be Residents
Some 15,000 fourth-year medical students, many surrounded by family and friends, ripped open envelopes in mid-March and learned where they will spend the next several years training to become physicians.
Most of the medical-school seniors had reason to celebrate. Ninety-four percent of them were matched to a residency program, and 85 percent of the matched students were placed in one of their top three choices. The students who were not matched will have chances to try to secure
