130 Academics Urge Support for Humanities Endowment
Most came for the lecture. Some stayed for the lobbying.
Last month, on the day after the playwright Arthur Miller delivered the Jefferson Lecture in the Humanities, more than 130 university scholars and administrators visited Congressional offices in Washington to promote the National Endowment for the Humanities. The group, organized by the National Humanities Alliance, was trying to win support for a bigger budget for the N.E.H.
