The 111 colleges that were singled out last month in a Congressional investigation into student-aid practices are now in compliance with federal law, the lawmaker leading the investigation said on Monday.
In a letter to Secretary of Education Arne Duncan, Rep. Elijah E. Cummings, Democrat of Maryland, said the colleges, which included many elite institutions, had all updated their websites to clarify that students are not required to submit fee-based applications to be considered for federal financial aid.
