The president of Lake Land College, in Mattoon, Ill., resigned today after only 11 months on the job. Bill Thallemer, the president, did not state a reason publicly for his decision, and the two-year college’s Board of Trustees was tight-lipped about the matter, according to the Mattoon Journal-Gazette.
Doris Reynolds, the board’s chairwoman, refused to comment on a “reported dispute between the board and president,” according to the paper. A statement on the college’s Web site quoted Ms. Reynolds as saying that Mr. Thallemer had “chosen to pursue other career opportunities.” She also pledged to “keep the lines of communication open.” —Elyse Ashburn
